Creation 2005 |
Creation 2005 Christopher had the honor of leading the evening worship at Creation Festival in Mt. Union, PA, as well as the communion and candlelight services on Thursday and Friday nights (see photos below!) Early reports said it was not only the largest Creation Festival ever in its history, but quite possibly the largest Christian event of its kind ever held, with between 80,000-100,000 in attendance and thousands streaming online. A surprise came when he was asked to fill in for Lincoln Brewster on Thursday morning. Lincoln had run into some flight delays in Chicago, and so Christopher was asked to not only lead the morning worship on Thursday but also play an impromptu 45 minutes of his own music! He played and shared from his heart, and gave his daughter Amanda's story. Many were touched, and hundreds came to his booth afterwards. Later that night, to close out the evening following Michael W. Smith's powerful performance, Christopher and his violinist from church, Kendal Smiley, assisted Pastor Harry Thomas in leading the hillside in an intimate time of communion. On Friday evening, Christopher led the crowd in singing a song in sign language, as one who was deaf would express their praise to God. He was joined by one of the interpreters and a young deaf man who beamed the joy of the Lord. Though Christopher’s own voice began growing hoarse, the Lord's strength was truly made perfect in his weakness and folks were powerfully moved as all 70,000+ signed the song in silence. Later, following the Newsboys set, which included a 45-minute power outage due to a failing transformer, Christopher came out with Pastor Harry and led their largest-ever candlelight service. Like a city set on a hill, the festival became a city of glimmering light as far as you could see in all directions from the stage. Making it all the more meaningful was having son Ben with him on the stage to witness the breathtaking view. Besides meeting and serving with a lot of wonderful Christian artists, Christopher had the joy of meeting thousands of folks from all walks of life, praying with many who had experienced hardships and loss. It was just a wonderful time of music and ministry. Thank you all for your prayers -- the Lord answered them in powerful and surprising ways!!
